HORSES
A CApPELLA, PIPER & CAROL
In March 2023 Piper and her mother, A cappella, were rescued from a feedlot in Texas. Piper was only 3 years old and pregnant. Both horses had never been handled before entering the feedlot.
On April 20, 2023, Piper unexpectedly gave birth. At the time Oshea was taking the deposition of Law Professor Carole Goldberg. Oshea told the attorney defending her deposition, Erika Shao, that she needed to suspend the deposition because the vet had arrived. Ms. Shao graciously agreed and asked what animal is the vet coming to see. Oshea told her it was a horse with no name. Carole said, you can name it after me. The baby has a heart on her back so she got the name (heart symbol) Carol Goldberg. We look forward to a ranch day with all parties involved meeting this beautiful filly.
FOXTROT & rAGTIME
Foxtrot & Ragtime are former Amish cart horses. In 2020 they were sent to a feedlot in Texas. The morning they were scheduled to be shipped to Mexico to become dogfood we were able to intervene and get them shipped to California sight unseen.
Foxtrot was a 12-year-old when he arrived but he had never been ridden. By 2021 Foxtrot was successfully trained to be ridden & is now one of our best trail horses who has carried beginners, lawyers, mediators & judges on local rides & at countless cowboy lawyer events all over California & through the mountains.
Ragtime was only 3 years old when he arrived. He has always been such a friendly horse he has done countless pony rides and has been a ranch favorite. While he is still green he has taken new riders out, carried kids, and participated in birthday celebrations. Ragtime’s sweet demeanor has caused him to be a ranch and volunteer favorite.
Rhapsody
Rhapsody is a thoroughbred mare who had a former life in pony club. She was not excited about becoming a show jumper. She found a new life with us as a trail horse.
RhYTHM
In March 2023, Rhythm was rescued from a feedlot in Texas. Rhythm was only 3 years old and had never been handled before entering the feedlot. Rhythm is still very fearful of humans. Our volunteers have spent many hours, talking to her, feeding her, sleeping in her stall and reading her children’s stories. She continues to slowly gain trust.
